For beginner students, I love the Faber primer or Alfred Beginner. Once the students have learned the basics, I play for them several pieces they would want to play for the next recital coming up so they can have an idea of what they like. For Intermediate players, I love the Dozen a Day collection, Hanon, and Alfred books. My teaching philosophy is that students blossom at their own pace. Some concepts might be more difficult for some to grasp than others. Students may excel in some areas and struggle in others. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and be successful! I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
