My style is rooted deeply in performance and dramatic interpretation. We will work extensively on microexpressions, which are genuine expressions provoked by real emotion. If we think of real experiences when we sing that we relate to, it will transform the performance and bring it to life. The performance will be more believable. Breathing gives life to singing, and learning the correct way to breathe takes much time and practice. I give them warm ups and drills to practice at home to improve their breathing and other techniques. I will either let the student choose what songs they would like to work on or give them suggestions, depending on their preferences and needs. As we go, I encourage and help the student apply what we learn in warm ups and technique exercises to how they sing the song we're currently working on. Read More

I just recently moved to the Greater Phoenix Area. I have a very strong passion for singing and bringing music to others. I have three degrees in opera, but I have worked professionally singing everything from standard ballads to gospel songs. Performing all over the world has given me the opportunity to sing and learn things about other cultures that I would otherwise never have known about. My most recent accomplishment was singing the leading role of Hoffman in the french opera Les contes d'hoffman in Perieuguex France in the summer of 2012. Read More

For piano students, I start with the Alfred or Bastien method series depending on age, and add lead sheet reading and Hanon exercises as well. I tailor lessons to the student, so if the student is interested in playing contemporary music, we work mainly on that. For voice, I assess the students range, current ability, and goals, and then we focus on vocal exercises that will help them improve their technique and on repertoire that interests them. Read More
