I love working with students of all ages and skill levels, and one of my biggest rewards as a teacher is seeing students improve and love music more and more each week. I work with students to develop their own unique goals for their lessons. Some students are putting together a full recital or prepping for auditions. My method makes understanding the breathing, support and execution of the voice the first priority.After this is achieved, exercises are assigned to further develop range, control, strength and vocal agility. The bottom line is that although it takes years to develop a strong, skillful and sensitive singer, it should not take years for a singer with good tutelage and a willingness to work hard, to sing competently. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. It's important that each of my students progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. My teaching style is individualized to meet the needs of the students. I like to use a portion of the first lesson to discuss the goals and musical interest of the student regardless of age. I encourage beginner students to learn basic theory to develop rudimentary skills. I then try to incorporate a student’s favorite music into the lesson plans. I also strongly encourage voice and guitar students to write their own music to promote self expression. Read More
