I have taught general music in three school districts: 10 years in Tomball Texas; 5 years in Huffman Texas and 3 years in Tempe Arizona. In addition to teaching in the public schools, I have been teaching privately for 20 years. I have owned and operated a studio for 7 years. The studio was sold because of the tremendous overhead. I started teaching music lessons about five years ago. I was a Pastor of Worship and Youth at a church, and I started giving voice and guitar lessons to students who were interested. As I continued to do this, I found that I loved seeing my students progress and become wonderful musicians. I try to get to know each student a little in the introduction/first lesson. I ask about their music goals and where they would like to be in a few months to a year. We talk about their favorite styles of music and artists. I am so excited to see my students progress and learn a new chord, play a new song well, sing a more challenging song, increase their vocal range, and become excited about their new musical skills! I grew up in Stephens City, VA, where I started playing drum set professionally at age 16. Piano, guitar, and songwriting came soon after, and in 2005 I was awarded the Jazz Studies Scholarship from the University of North Texas to study drum set with the world-renowned educator, Ed Soph. At North Texas, I participated in the 6 O'Clock Lab Band, Advanced AfroCuban Ensemble, Chamber Brass Band and Brazilian Ensemble, and soon after, was commissioned to compose original music for the computer game Wriggle Words..
