Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Instruments: Voice
For beginning students who do not read music, I focus on singing small melodies while learning to read the music and listen to the tune. This is crucial for ear training. As student's get older and or have been in the studio a longer period of time, they will get to help choose the music they sing, such as the style, language and genre of the pieces. I do bi-annual recitals, so the student's typical work on 5 pieces twice a year depending on age/skill. Read More

My passion is to teach young and old of any experience level to overcome stage fright, to improve their voices, to practice, to give advice, and above all educate them in music theory, sight reading, and music history. I was also an instructor at the Stephen Collins Foster Music Camp, a counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Music Mentor of the Resident College of Arts in Humanities at MSU. I served as a woodwind specialist for marching bands for several years. I previously taught classes on music technology and composition at MSU and assisted in Early Childhood music classes at CMS. During my 14 years of music teaching experience, I have worked with students as a public school music teacher, a studio private lesson teacher for piano, voice, oboe, flute, clarinet and saxophone. I've started studio programs for music theory, group piano, preschool music and musical theater. I've worked with students of all ages and experience levels who have a wide range of musical goals. Because I have a background in Kodaly and Orff instructional methods as well as advanced knowledge of musical theory, composition, music history and recording arts, I incorporate these elements within my instruction as students learn a piece of music.
