I am extremely passionate about music and have been driven my whole life, so I show my passion in my teaching by my exuberant and fun teaching style. I like to focus on long term and short term projects to build confidence in a variety of ways. I am very encouraging, but critique when necessary and isolate a problem to address it quickly to build confidence in the student. Read More

The three-fold approach of my teaching philosophy has grown over the course of my career. Bel canto training has a rich pedagogical tradition. As such, we can draw on the approaches of historical treatises as a guide for healthy, sustainable vocal technique. If the student is all play and fun or is all work, I adapt to whatever they feel within themselves and follow that. If a parent is forcing a child to learn without them enjoying it I will notice and will always find a way to create a middle ground as I can offer many different forms of exploration towards a skill. In other words, I recommend allowing your child to choose what they wanna learn and trust the process as I believe if someone truly enjoys something and is passnate about they will show sufficient improvement overall in music and in life. I think it is important to keep the oral tradition of teaching alive so most of the content during lessons will be learnt by ear, though supplemental physical materials will be used. Learning primarily by ear will help build student's listening skills which will be useful down the road when rehearsing with others or learning new tunes quickly. The student will start learning songs that they choose right off the bat, this will keep them engaged and more likely to practice. Read More

My teaching experience has been recent, having taught at Capital City Lighthouse Charter School for a year, teaching music to elementary students, and then for two months at Jacksonville Lighthouse Charter School, also teaching music to elementary students. However, I have been playing clarinet for 12-13 years. I graduated Henderson State University with a bachelors degree in Instrumental Music Education in the spring of 2021. I have also been trained in vocal technique and been a member of both the Henderson State University Choir and Showband of Arkansas. Read More
