I am a motivated and aspiring music educator. I have been in music since the 6th grade and am born and raised in Reno, NV. I graduated from ths University of Nevada, Reno with my Bachelor's in Music Education. I have been in an Orchestra every year of my musical career as well as participating in various Choir and Band ensembles. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I strongly believe that fundamentals need to be the basis for learning. If students are not comfortable with basics such as posture, bow hold, and how to produce good tone, they will not be able to learn more advanced techniques. Because of that, I don't let students work on music that is too advanced for them. I began teaching professionally in the Bay Area about 30 years ago. I have taught in a variety of settings includings classes, group lessons, in music stores, for school districts, at students' homes and in my own private studio. Every person learns differently and I am highly skilled at detecting this and using it to my students' advantage.
