During my masters degree I studied Suzuki pedagogy. While I don't follow the method exactly, I do incorporate much of the philosophy into my own teaching. With beginners, I prefer to teach the violin by ear so that my students can focus on their technique rather than reading music, while developing strong listening skills that are important for playing any instrument in any style. Once a student has grasped the fundamentals of violin, I begin to introduce music reading and solo repertoire appropriate to their level. Read More

I have received professional education at The Sibelius Academy for teaching private music lessons. I like to teach students as individuals and create a practice program for them according to their personal goals. I am supportive and patient and want to help each student to find their own highest potential. I welcome all ages and levels to my instrument lessons. I think that both the process of learning and the end goal are important. Read More

So, I find it is important to be student-centered and focus on the goals they can achieve, little at a time. I also find it important to create positive feedback and turn constructive feedback into a more positive direction, so it does not seem as tough. Read More
