I have been teaching beginner to advanced violin students beginning in high school, about 10 years ago, and have continued to do so through my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. I was also a violin section coach for the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. I enjoy teaching both beginner and advanced violin students; each bring their own challenges and rewards to the learning process. I began teaching violin and viola lessons while pursuing his bachelor's degree in Colorado and instantly fell in love. I have been teaching consistently for the past five years. I encourage a consistent practice session as a key point for students of any ability level, as this helps students progress at a fast rate. I like to keep a balance of teaching classical repertoire to promote technical improvement, as well as music that may be more relevant to my students' lives, such as folk or pop, to keep lessons and the violin fun. Lessons are broken up into two parts: Technique and repertoire. It's important to build up proper technique to prevent injury and to refine skill. I like students to work on three pieces at a time (It sounds scary, but is totally manageable.) If I feel the student can handle more music, I will adjust.
