Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Watching students progress and fall in love with music is deeply rewarding for me. I approach my teaching in a fun and friendly way, using our outlined goals to guide us through learning the instrument. I like to help my students set up their own customized practice schedule and will make notes throughout our lesson so that the student is completely clear on what they must do on their own, With every new element that I introduce, I work on it until I see understanding from the student, so I can see that they know what to work on. For beginning students who are children,I combined the Essential Elements for strings along with the Suzuki Method. I will also introduced the solo repertoire appropriate for scholarships and symphony membership. I also provide materials that will enable individuals, and homogeneous/heterogeneous string groups to build the secure technique so vital to string players who want to express themselves musically. I give criticism, as it is necessary for improvement, but I do not neglect the success in each lesson. I especially strive for every lesson to end on a positive note. I find the last few minutes of the lesson are what the student takes home with them, and as a result foreshadow the following week. If they take home something negative, it is less likely that they will feel the desire to play or practice or even look forward to the next lesson. Read More

For beginning piano students, I tend to use the Alfred method books 1-3, then graduate to Hanon "the virtuoso pianist" I stress the "fundamentals" while adding solo repertory for enjoyment and solo playing. Simple piano pieces keep the lessons fun for beginners, while classical works are encouraged for intermediate and advanced students. For violin and viola, one of my choices is "All for Strings". I do add Mueller-Rusch books after the first year, and some solo pieces from the Suzuki methods. Read More

In 2012 I earned a Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in music from Northern Arizona University, and went on to complete a Masters degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University.
