Most of the work that I have had the privilige of delving into have been masterclasses with individuals trying my very best to incorporate aspects of what I have learned from my time with Don Weilerstein who I consider to be a major mentor figure to me in development both as a musician and a person. As an avid practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism, I have often to my ecstatic wonderment found patterned sychronocities between this sort of brilliant visceral teaching various aspects of Tibetan Buddhism,(particularly the practice of Shamatha and elements of Visualisation), Eastern Energetic practices and spacial/temporal awareness—playing with various methods of getting out of the body to become the rhythm and structure a phrase. I want my students to have fun and enjoy themselves during our time together, but I also want to help them discover the courage and confidence within them that will help turn their lessons into lifetime expressions of beauty and freedom. I believe in encouraging students and praising them for good work, but I'm not afraid to point out things that need work. I teach the fundamentals of the violin (for beginners) out of the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book series. For solo pieces and scales (for students who have had a year or so of instruction), I teach out of the Suzuki Method books. For more advanced students, I use technique books such as Wolfhart and Sevcik to develop bow and finger control. Additional books I use for choosing repertoire for students include Barber's Solos for Young Violinists and various concerti depending on the student's ability level. Read More

It is always a pleasure to see my students develop their skills and deeper interest in music. I believe that everyone can perform starting with simple solo pieces of 2-5 minutes long. I have always loved teaching music. I think that it is a very important aspect of being a musician. I feel the need to pass on everything that I have learned. I started studying classical music and shortly after beginning, started to branch out into other styles. Over the years, I have studied, country, Irish, and Cajun fiddling, Jazz, Rock, Improv, and kept up with my classical studies.
