I have had a passion since I was 6 years old for music, I recieved B.S in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Central Michigan University and an Associates in Dance from University of Michigan. During which times I also performed with Flint Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Michigan Symphony, and the Symphony Orchestra of Leon. I take the great things about the Suzuki Method and use them (fun, creativity, by-ear learning, group jams). Then I take the things I don't like about the method and disregard them (pre-established repetoire, no composition or improv). I teach kids how to concentrate, how to teach themselves, how to ignore distractions, and the philosophy for joyful performance without nervousness. I have been teaching students for over 10 years. In addition to piano, guitar, violin, and double bass private lessons, I have also taught group lessons. I taught a group piano lab for 5th graders. I taught group guitar lessons to camp students. For beginning students who are children, I start with Essential Method Book for Strings. Once the students has progressed more, I use Suzuki Method books, and also, choose (introduce) solo pieces for recital performance. For adults, I find out what the student is interested in and find the book that fits their interest (and guide my instruction accordingly to engage them).
