I have been teaching private lessons for over ten years to students aged 8 to 80 and with all levels of experience and expertise. Lessons will always include work on fundamentals and technique in addition to the piece or pieces. I try to make sure my student always feels like he or she has accomplished something in the lesson. I first began teaching while at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This was the first time I learned that a student can make remarkable progress at an instrument, given the right encouragement and direction. Since moving to Madison, I have begun teaching at Heid Music, and have been gradually growing a studio on the three instruments I teach. I began teaching in 2017 at the Arboretum Music School in Waunakee, though I left that position for my studies in Vienna. Since then, I have only occasionally taught in my home, and moreso spent time exploring my own relationship to music, my body's relationship to the instrument, and to my sound.
