Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Currently, I teach string instruments at the Yamaha Music School in Cerritos, California, and maintains my private music studio in Murrieta, California. I was very active in chamber music performance. I was a founding member of the University Faculty Chamber Music Ensemble, the Oxford Piano Trio, as well as the baroque music trio, Heinekens Circle. Without the knowledge of the basics a student would not be able to advance further. In my lessons. I make sure that I focus on the weak sides of my students rather than the strong. For instance, if it is an orchestra rehearsal I practice the excerpts that are the most challenging first and then move on to the simpler sections. I want to serve as a supportive and instructional figure that helps cultivate an appreciation of music for all students. In order to do this, I believe it's important to prioritize personal student progress rather than subscribe to a fixed game plan. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
