I have been teaching since 2010. I taught General Music for K - 6th grade students, choir and private lessons for keyboard. Later in 2012 - 2019, I taught grades 3rd - 8th grade and band / choir after school. I taught private lesson to beginner brass students teaching the basic fundamentals. For brass instrumental students, I generally use the Rubank Method books, focusing on care of the instrument and basic fundamentals. For piano students I use a variety of different method books and am not tied down to any one series. We will also work on scales and the Hannon series For vocal students, I use a series of vocalises, scales and other exercises to strengthen the voice. For beginner students who are children, I usually start with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has advanced to where I can see that they have a good grasp of the fundamentals of the instrument, that is typically when I begin to introduce solo repertoire and supplement with my own material.
