I start lessons by warming up and doing exercises. For children, I do this in a listen and response setting. Then I will work through school songs or performance pieces, focusing on rhythms first, notes second and musicallity third. These 3 aspects lead to musicial mastery. I began teaching lessons while still in high school through a mentorship program with music students in local middle schools. Being able to teach at such a young age not only encouraged personal growth on my instrument but inspired my love for teaching and sharing a joy of music. I continued teaching lessons to middle and high school students throughout my undergraduate program and added music theory and composition elements into my instrumental lessons in order to appeal to more learning styles and provide a comprehensive understanding to encourage mindfulness and success.
