Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Once an optimal mentality is reached, I like to have the student play any prepared materials. During this time, I am listening as if I am the one playing and how I would go about bettering myself. I will ask the student what their thoughts are, where their priorities are, and how they would go about bettering themselves. If our answers do not happen to line up, I will share my position and we will attempt both solutions to see what works best. Read More

I believe in ensuring that students get their moneys worth and beyond out of each lesson. Because of that, I will do my best to convey and articulate each message I give them as clearly and accurately as possible. I also am very upfront with students about their progress, their issues, and what it will take to get them to the next level. I respect my students, and I respect their time and efforts. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
My beginner students use the Essential Elements book. With that book, you can learn fundamentals in trumpet technique as well as counting. For all other students, I use the Herbert L. Clarke Technical Studies book and selections from the Arban's Conservatory Method. We cover a lot of etudes and techniques from the Arban's book. I also believe collaboration is important in lessons so often we will play duets together in lessons. Read More

For young beginners, I recommend starting with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Band. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, we will introduce solo pieces appropriate for the child's skill level and purposes (preparing for a performance vs learning for fun, for example). For older students, we will work quickly to establish a firm knowledge of the fundamentals before moving on to more complex pieces based on the student's interests. Read More

I have been teaching music professionally for well over a decade and pride myself in knowing that I give my students all of the tools they need to succeed. Encouraging regular practice is essential to progress and improve on personal technique - both for me and my students. Because I expect my students to practice their individual assigned material, I practice it at home as well. I have found that teaching by example generated some incredible results. Read More
