A book that I use for lip slurs is the Irons book, this book contains extensive exercises for lip flexibility. I also use a lot of exercises that I either learned from other trumpet players, or ones that I made up on my own to target specific things. I have been teaching young trumpeters since I began my undergraduate career four years ago. I have helped middle school and high school students advance in their own playing career. I love learning about how each student learns, and I've always challenged myself to plan accordingly. My students have been honored not only in their own band programs, but also in Georgia All State Band and DCI. I used this time to help students become interested in learning about music through; presenting various instruments for the class to observe and using creative teaching methods that include music for an easier comprehension tool with their school work.
