I myself am a music student on my way to study at University of Alabama for a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have been privately instructing students of all ages for a full three years, starting when I was fifteen. I never turn down an opportunity to perform, and have played in multiple orchestras, symphonic bands, jazz bands, and marching bands. I like to start where the student is. For my youngest students, we begin with the basics of counting and the music alphabet. For older students and adults, I assess prior knowledge and go from there. i like to have the students help me create up to three goals for the semester or year so that we can have something specific to aim for and measure. I taught my first lesson 5 years ago when I was an under graduate. I began teaching guitar to the public part time at age 19 in the music department of my community college. From there, I went on to a university and continued to teach guitar, bass, and voice while I finished up on getting my performance degree.
