I've been teaching since 2018. My teaching experience ranges from beginner to collegiate and I've taught as young as 8 and as old as 40. My initial goal is to create a connection with both the student and the family (family support it the best way to improve!). My teaching philosophy focuses on using personal experiences to relate to musical ideas (ex, breathe like you're jumping into a pool). All program students are assigned a daily routine to complete, song to perform, and focus exercise. For single lessons, I perform an inventory of skills, supplementary lesson, and assessment for an improvement plan. I select technique and training material in conjunction with any programs in which the student is currently participating (i.e. school band programs, other instruction, etc.). Learning a musical instrument should always be a very rewarding and satisfying experience.  Therefore, I have a large variety of techniques in my musical bag of tricks to challenge all types of learners.  During my 10 years as a full time band director, I have developed many musical "games", often based on Suzuki methods, to make learning fundamentals, scales, and repertoire much more enjoyable.  These include practice rewards, Band Olympics, ninja karate belts, and Harry Potter themed games.
