I am an experienced and passionate teacher and performer. I hold my K-12 Music Teaching Certification in Ohio and New Jersey. As a professional vocalist, I have appeared with various orchestras and small opera companies in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and beyond. I have performed at Severance Hall, Playhouse Square, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Chicago's Harris Theater, but as a student, I never thought that would be the case. My general pedagogical goal is to set students up with lessons that can be interpreted to other parts of life. Learning discipline, focus, problem solving skills, awareness, and interpretation in the practice room is useful in every aspect of life. Another goal is to develop the student in such a way that a passion for music and the arts is grown. I have not been teaching lessons for long in my career, but since I grew up in Northeast Ohio and went to school at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, I know the region well. I participated in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony and the Akron Youth Symphony, so I am familiar with opportunities that are in the area and know how to prepare students for these types of elite ensembles. I like to make sure that in my lessons students realize that learning an instrument is a marathon and not a sprint. I foster an environment that encourages them to ask questions whenever they are having trouble understanding a concept. I am always trying to find out how best to teach a student by trying to find out how they learn information.
