I started teaching private lessons in college and continued doing so after graduation. I like teaching private lessons because students learn valuable skills and techniques that will help in every aspect of a student's life. Students learn time management, dedication, and work ethic through taking private lessons and I love watching students grow throughout the process. As a music teacher, I have ample experience with students in grades 4-12. As much as possible, I want my students to guide the direction of their lessons and their growth as musicians. Helping students to set realistic goals and then providing the tools needed to achieve those goals are key components to my teaching philosophy. Nothing is more exciting than feeling yourself perform something that, not so long ago, you thought you'd never be able to play. While studying at IUP, I was principal bassoon of our ensembles and played in many chamber groups as well. In 2015, I won the Graduate Assistantship at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.
