In fundamental studies, we will learn lip slurs, tonguing exercises, efficient breathing, excellent buzzing technique, etc. We will achieve maximum proficiency in basic fundamentals by using method books (according to skill level) , such as Remington, Schlossberg, Arban's, ect., and personally curated exercises designed for the individual. I start beginner's on scales and fundamentals, and once they grasp the basics of reading music and the instrument (hopefully in after a couple of lessons) I have them start on The First Book of Practical Studies so that they can begin to learn to play very simple melodies and to reinforce their ability to read music.
