I start all beginning brass players in the Tradition of Excellence method (Kjos Music) as well as individually designed drills and warm-ups. Depending on the individual, advanced students move on to grades 4-6 solos and method books that are specific to their instrument. All students, starting with "advanced beginners" are encouraged to play on studio recitals in a positive, supportive setting. Read More

Students regularly give feedback on the music they are making, as well as any new ways they think I might be helpful to them. I use Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory to help inform me of the students learning style. My goal is to nurture each students musical process. I support whatever pace students choose to employ, and tailor my instruction to their needs and wants. Read More
