As a teacher in public and charter schools, I have directed choruses, small chamber ensembles, orchestras, and musical theater. I started teaching music lessons during college, where I excelled as a trombonist. Although I remain a brass teacher, I "made the switch" to singing in 2005. In 2006 I was accepted to graduate school for singing and historical musicology. In my lessons, I work hard to create a routine that best fits the students needs. This typically means that many of my students are not following a specific lesson plan or standard routine. Starting out, I stress fundamentals and warm-ups to help the students create a solid grasp of the instrument, before making the move towards solo repertoire. Guitar: An exploration of a variety of genres with an emphasis on technique and precision. We will master scales, basic chords, and important chord structures. Lessons will include an introduction to sight-reading and music theory as well as playing by ear, soloing, and songwriting. Bass: Lessons will focus on technique and music theory. I have taught private lessons and low brass instrutor for Marching bands. The groups I play in I am the lead trombone so I have a responsibility to teach my coherts the correct rythms, intunation and style. I do recordings for our Jazz band as well as lead trombone.
