I'm a passionate composer and performer who loves working with students to develop an individual appreciation for music, while focusing on growing as a player. I'm currently studying Music Performance with a Jazz minor at Oklahoma State University under the instruction of Paul Compton. I have been a music teacher for over 25 years and have taught music at all levels from kindergarten through college both in the United States and abroad in the Caribbean, Japan, and Africa.. Older children just beginning to enter the world of music will begin with the fundamentals of musicianship, sound, and breathing. From there I will progress to rhythm, pitch, and notation. When these skills are mastered I will get the students comfortable with their instruments and begin playing. Students that have a background in music with their instruments will be assessed to determine the level of teaching required.
