My general pedagogical goal is to set students up with lessons that can be interpreted to other parts of life. Learning discipline, focus, problem solving skills, awareness, and interpretation in the practice room is useful in every aspect of life. Another goal is to develop the student in such a way that a passion for music and the arts is grown. I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them. I will take the students progress seriously, and expect them to do the same, so I make sure the expectation to practice is clear. Read More

I am a native of Houston, Texas and a trumpet player. I attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my Bachelor's Degree,and afterwards I decided to move to Cincinnati to study with a few of the trumpet players in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. I recently graduated from Miami University with a Master's Degree in Music Performance on trumpet. I am currently a freelance musician with 5KBrass and perform regularly in the Cincinnati area. I am an experienced and passionate teacher and performer. I hold my K-12 Music Teaching Certification in Ohio and New Jersey. As a professional vocalist, I have appeared with various orchestras and small opera companies in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and beyond. I have performed at Severance Hall, Playhouse Square, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Chicago's Harris Theater, but as a student, I never thought that would be the case. I love teaching because I believe most, if not all, people love music and can learn to love making music. I want it to be fun for them, to keep them interested. I believe that a set of expectations on the student is required to keep them motivated, but I am never upset or disappointed if they don't practice enough. I think keeping them involved in music is the most important part, and I know that many students will not pursue a full time career in music, but music is valuable to them in so many ways. Read More
