Some students are advanced enough to begin learning from Rochut's Melodious Etudes book, while some may need something easier than that, like Cimera's Phrasing Studies book. I focus hard on the fundamentals of the instrument and don't introduce material that is too hard for the student. For students at the beginning and intermediate levels on all instruments I use the Rubank Method alongside appropriate solo literature for their ability level. It is a succinct, affordable resource that will not leave a student lacking. When I teach any advanced brass player I use Arbans conservatory method, Clarke Technical Studies, and the brass gym. In my lessons, I work hard to create a routine that best fits the students needs. This typically means that many of my students are not following a specific lesson plan or standard routine. Starting out, I stress fundamentals and warm-ups to help the students create a solid grasp of the instrument, before making the move towards solo repertoire. The groups I play in I am the lead trombone so I have a responsibility to teach my coherts the correct rythms, intunation and style. I do recordings for our Jazz band as well as lead trombone.
