I started playing the saxophone in the 5th grade. In 2011, I graduated from Miami University with Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. After working in education as a substitute teacher for 6+ years, I am pursuing a career change. However, I still have a deep passion for music and the saxophone. In addition to performing with local community ensembles, I enjoy working with beginning and improving musicians. My methods of instruction are taylor made for each individual student. For example I will teach a beginner student that wants to learn the guitar as an instrument and music theory basic technique, chords, scales, and how to read music, as well as enjoyable songs that capture their personal interests. I prefer Mel Bay instruction books and encourage playing by ear that is appropriate to the level of the student. Read More

It's really important to me that students enjoy what they are doing in music. It is a skill that has endless possibilities for creativity, expressing emotions, and connecting with others. This is what I want my students to learn and to bring with it a passion for music they can have for the rest of their lives. Music completed changed my life and I want to give that experience back to my students along with developing life long skills that can transfer to other areas of life such as responsibility, perseverance, and problem solving. My teaching experience began in my undergraduate days at Morehead State University. While teaching private lessons to students across Kentucky I also was a music theory tutor for my peers at Morehead. I have experience teaching students at all levels, from beginner to advanced levels. My theory and private lesson students always gained much improvement, and some of my advanced students even entered all state bands and competitions.
