Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I encourage my students to be technically proficient, musically literate, and good listeners. Having these core fundamentals down prepares my students to be able to play any style of music they choose. Lessons are always customized to fit the musical preferences of the student. I use my preferred method books but am able to incorporate the books the student already owns within the lesson plans. I encourage the use of technology such as smartphones, iPads, and play-a-longs as teaching aids. Read More

For beginning percussion students, I typically begin by teaching instrument maintenence,proper playing technique,rhythmic reading basics, and implementing a rudimental warm up exercise. My methods vary on the student and subject. Beginning students will typically focus more on technical pieces of music to improve on certain aspects of a few pieces to perform. More advanced students will still practice technical parts of their music, but less time will be spent on it during a lesson. Advanced level students will spend more time on repertoire and performance. I believe that it's best to learn by example, and in music this is often by demonstrating with the instrument. I will always have my instrument out to play along, or demonstrate what I am expecting. I expect my students to practice what is assigned to them so we can both have a productive session with each other, however I do understand that life happens. I try different techniques throughout the lesson to ensure that what I'm teaching is resonating with the student. Read More

This is especially important for younger students, as parental support and involvement are crucial for maintaining regular and focused practice sessions. Siblings are also welcome to be present during the lesson time, provided they are accompanied by a parent and do not cause any disruptions.
