After leaving Florida State University, I traveled to Arizona to obtain my Master's Degree at Arizona State University. Here, I received full in and out of state tuition and was principal clarinet with the graduate Wind Sympony and the University Symphony Orchestra. While I was finishing my Master's Degree, I began teaching band and orchestra at an Elementary School, a Middle School, and then a High School. Every student has different needs. I offer a relaxed style of teaching. Safe, comfortable evironment. Parents are always welcome to attend lessons for their students if need be. I have a student tell me what their goals are and we go from there. Some students may have a greater understanding of how the language on the page works. I began teaching clarinet lessons as a college student in 1990, and got my first job as a band director in 1993. I have not taught lessons in a home studio setting (only at school), but would be able to teach students in my home if desired, or would travel to students' homes or teach online if preferred. I have taught piano, drums, and all band instruments since 1993. For beginning students, I generally start with the Accent on Achievment book series and spend the first few lessons assessing and addressing the important fundamentals of the students' particular instrument. After working out of the book for an apropriate amount of time, I introduce solo repertiore from both pop and classical genres.
