In 2010, I graduated from VanderCook College of Music with a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have played in a variety of instrumental ensembles on different instruments, from euphonium, trombone, marimba and drum-set to name a few. I am motivated to helping people accomplish their goal of learning their instrument. Once that connection is established, I like to find out the students interests and make sure a personal goal is set that we can achieve together. There has to be something exciting the student can achieve in order to develop self-motivation. As a starting musician, I personally would go with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements 2000. It is a great way to start the student because the book breaks how to learn how music in appropriate steps. As someone who is in junior high leading into high school, I love to use scales, smooth air movement, flexibility for band, scale fluency, chromatic scales, improve exercise, and performing tip exercises. I never imagined God had plans for me to be a music teacher.
