Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I don't tend to rely on any one method. I have quite a bit of material that I have personally developed over the years. I try to take each student as an individual with their own unique personality, likes and dislikes, and motivations. So I enjoy customizing a lesson plan that is as individual as each student. My teaching experience has been for as long as I've been playing. Before studying any particular type of pedagogical approach, I've always had the gift and desire to share what I know with others. Formalized study has simply given me specific nomenclature for things. Having said that, my pedagogical approach is simple...discern how the student learns and give them the information clearly in that fashion. There are some people who are very literal and need specific details, whereas there are some who work well with general instruction and prefer to feel things out viscerally. Read More

For intermediate to advanced players this is a period to both evaluate strengths/weaknesses and to establish expectations for the teacher-student partnership. For beginners this is the necessary first step on their journey as musicians. I have taught private Drum Major lessons and high school clinics to young students across Western and Central North Carolina. During the summer of 2019, I was honored to be an instructor at the Lenoir-Rhyne Youth Summer Music Camp, where I taught musicianship/theory and woodwinds.
