I started teaching private clarinet lessons in high school and fell in love with it. After high school, I went to Northern Oklahoma College where I played saxophone and clarinet and was awarded the Outstanding Instrumentalist award two consecutive years. After graduating, I attended Oklahoma City University where I played as 1st chair clarinet in the Wind Philharmonic and Lead Tenor in the Jazz Ensemble. In 2012, I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Music Education. Read More

Yet I am still a professional musician. What I am saying is that you can be successful in learning to be a musician if you have attention issues. As a middle-aged adult I have (just a few years ago) been diagnosed with ADHD, which explains my entire life of practicing music! My teaching experience started 5 years ago. I was a senior in high school and was teaching a beginning student the trombone. Throughout the past 5 years I have continued to teach students when I was able to. I encourage regular practice and maintaining a consistent schedule. I always say 10 minutes a day is better then 30 minutes every 3 days. For younger students a combination or aural learning and written learning are great ways to help them engage and keep an interest. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to when i was in college, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago. I would teach to earn extra money when i was in college, as well as accompany other musicians as a side gig. I also have some experience playing piano and singing at a local coffee house from time to time. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize with all my students as it develops the flexibility in the hands and fingers that is needed for the more challenging pieces of music. Throughout my music teaching career, I have enjoyed watching students progress on their instruments in both proficiency and their love of playing. I enjoy watching their weekly improvement on both the solo and ensemble level and encourage them to perform often in a variety of settings to build their confidence in public performance whether that be as members of school bands and ensembles or in public recitals showcasing their progress to both parents and friends Read More
