My approach is different for each student. A curriculum will be designed around the student's needs, skill level, music reading ability, musical interests, and age level. I am capable of teaching a student as much as they are willing to learn. We will not only learn a piece of music, but will dive into what makes the piece interesting to the student and the theory of music. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had. I am a passionate instructor who believes that learning to speak this universal language is one of the best ways to bring communities and people together. I graduated from Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver June of 2019 and have been teaching privately for the past two years. Aside from teaching I perform at local venues around Denver with bands of all different genres. I also organize events involving live music, art, and food to promote Denver's local artists and raise awareness for Orpheus Music + Arts Festival: a project I started last year and plan to keep cultivating. I ask them to bring any materials they have and will often recommend books and supplemental material I have had success with.
