For percussionists and drummers starting out, they'll start with just a practice pad and a pair of sticks, and the first "Alfred's Drum Method" book. From there, after a bit of progression, I'll add material based on the student's interests. For starting pianists, I work with pianists through the Faber series.  The success there was deemed 'exemplary' by the Chair, which advanced me to teaching collegiate students, all of them passing their respective Jury Exams with highest marks.  Many students went on as Music Majors and piano instructors in the field.  At the University and elsewhere, I've implemented multimedia programs involving electronic music, painting and the sysaesthetic arts. I was 4 years old when I found my passion for playing the piano. I was taught classically through MacPhail Center For Music and attended examinations yearly through The Royal Conservatory of Music. As I grew older, I taught friends and neighborhood kids how to play the piano and found a passion for teaching and watching people learn. My musical life has been extraordinary. Born in Mpls. MN, I attended the Aspen Musical Festival before my departure to Vienna Austria for Master studies in Violin/viola and piano. Scholarship intended for one year ended up a 25 year tenure, teaching, performing in Vienna and raising a family. I returned to the US to become executive director of a music school in MN. I was able to start new after school music programs for elementary schools throughout the district, start an orchestra program and open a theater program for kids. Read More
