I am a professional pianist/conductor and teacher. I have performed both classical and modern repertoire. My passion for teaching is equal to my passion for playing piano. I have studied both in Europe and in the USA and I find important to blend different methods to help the students to achieve different skills and confidence when playing different music. Since a young age I was introduced to classical piano. At the age of 20 I graduated from an Italian Conservatory of Music in Piano performance. The piano degree in Europe is 10 years long, very selective and very demanding.
25 years of teaching piano and music education. 25 years of experience as a professional pianist and conductor. I have been playing and studying in Europe before moving to the USA. I have performed both classical music, modern, jazz and pop. I have conducted professional orchestra and worked with opera and music theaters. In addition to teaching piano I also teach theory and improvisation and simply way to start playing beginner selection in a very short time. My student can have fun while learning piano!
Different ages and levels need to be considered when selecting the methods of study. I apply a simply rule: while there are several methods and material available, I introduce a method that fit the student needs and the student goal. Each student is different. The method needs to make a student playing in a short time, learning and to achieving reasonable goals. Ultimately is the student practice and dedication that make things happening while following and trusting the teacher instructions.
Teaching is more an art than a practice. Teaching music and learning how to play an instruments involves the all being. The music making process is more than just providing instructions and for the student to follow them. I am convinced by my personal experience that while motivating a student is very important, it is more important to have students that really want to learn music and are not forced to do so by anyone else. Once the student is eager to learn that the teacher can successfully guide the students to achieve anything they want!
