Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. To do this, we will set realistic goals for the student at each lesson. During my time at Belmont University, I taught music part time, as the other hours during the day were spent on class material, creating music of my own, as well as further developing methods by which to teach. Towards the end of college I took a break from teaching to focus on my career as an artist/songwriter. I love to see kids progress in music and become excited about it!! My teaching style is very paced and hands on. If a student isn't getting something, I like to slow it down until they they do. I'm very complimentary and positive during lessons; this helps the student be confident. Practice makes permanent. It doesn't always make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect, and therefore I encourage students to always make consistent time to practice and perfect their craft. Consistent practice with good technique and attention to detail is better than hours and hours of lazy, uninspired practice. Therefore, I try to set new challenges each week that are fresh and exciting which encourage active, perfect practice. My method of teaching involves a musically comprehensive approach. Through practice in rhythm, harmony, melody, theory and ear training, my players become well rounded musicians. The goal is to be able to have an intelligent musical conversation with your instrument, and to know how to play whatever you want to play.
