I like to make my lessons fun and somewhat laid back, yet structured and goal-oriented. Since each of my students has a unique learning style, I have made it my goal to tailor my teaching style and lesson plans for each individual I teach so that they can reach their full potential as a pianist. Additionally, I help my students set goals for themselves during each lesson that will guide their independent practice during the week. Read More

Though I have strongly sharpened my skills and can adapt to almost any learning style, I continue to research and experiment and find different ways to adapt to my students. My love for music and my desire to see students succeed creates an infinite amount of patience and understanding within the context of our lessons. I can empathize with enjoyment for learning as well as frustration in failure. This enables me to share the solutions that I've found to the mistakes I've made over the years with my students so that they develop good habits from the beginning. Read More

I also try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Sometimes musicianship is as much "caught" as it is "taught." So, it's important to carefully monitor and foster a student's progress. I will use a lot of coaching, affirmation, reassurance, and encouragement to fuel a student's progress and desire to stay with it. Training in several disciplines help to identify and cater my teaching style to the needs of the student. I don't use a "cookie cutter" approach to teaching. Read More

While I was there I devoted my entire life to learning how to play guitar in all its various modes. I spent years focused on growing as a guitar player and learning to push myself to continuously improve. During that time, I began to fall in love with percussion. Read More
