For young beginning piano students, I typically start with Alfred's Basic Piano Library for the classical approach or my own Christian Music Piano Library for a Christian or Gospel music approach. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire appropriate for their age and skill level. For all of my beginning students, I use the method book Piano Safari because it teaches them reading music, playing music by rote, and technique all in one. There is a child version and an older beginner version. For students who are not beginners, I find them solo pieces that are suitable for them that they enjoy so that their playing will progress. I am a retired Army officer and I performed with the Army Band for over ten years. I have traveled with the band all over the United States and abroad singing and playing professionally. I have performed with Opera Birmingham and I am a member of the Alabama Symphony Chorus. I am a passionate piano performer who wants to show people the beauty of the instrument and its immense capabilities. I have studied music and have been classically trained since I was six years old and am studying for a bachelor associate degree at the University of Alabama. I have performed in numerous classical piano competitions, and growing up I competed in AMTA for over ten consecutive years. I am passionate about music and I play at least 7 instruments. I love alot of international music styles as well as American styles (soft rock, rock, hard rock, progressive metal, hip hop reggae, etc.). My music degree is from Auburn University Montgomery and I have done live performances within a band, ensemble, and on my own.
