I find that, especially for younger students, this is a great way to introduce beginner theory while learning to apply it to their playing. My studio has the latest technology to reinforce skills and knowledge that are being taught and learned. For my youngest students I use Music for Little Mozarts.  I have developed a curriculum supplementing this particular series -  rhythm is experienced with percussion instruments, boom whackers, and lots of fun music games "off the bench".  Time is spent both "on the bench" (playing on the keyboard), and "off the bench". For students 6 years old and above I use the Faber & Faber method, although If that particular method doesn't "click" with a student, then I certainly have others I use. Read More

For beginners students I typically start with music exploration, with percussion instruments or even turning or our bodies into a musical instrument, then once they have decide the instrument they want to learn, we begin with muscle memory and easy basic repertoire, for students that have been already initiated, I find out what kind of music there interested about and provide some of the basic skills to perform the piece they are interested in and slowly but surely introduced the basic skill to properly perform the piece.
