Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Violin, Viola, Bass Guitar, Harmonica, Mandolin, Electric Violin, Fiddle, Double Bass

I use a very concise methodology in my instruction. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I also encorperate ideas in theory, history, and ear training. Also if the student has yet to learn how to read musical notation. that will be taught along side with regular instrumental lessons. Instruments: Piano

As I alluded to previously, I lean much more towards the traditional end of the spectrum in regards to teaching. That being said, I also make a concerted effort to make my piano lessons fun and engaging for the student. I have had the great fortune of getting to study the piano under some really kind and inspiring people, and I try to emulate them the best I can. I want students to know I care about them without coming across as disingenuous, and I don't want them to ever feel afraid to ask a question. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Cello, Music

For all my cello students, I start with 170 Foundation Studies and a modified Suzuki Method (Cello). Once my students reach Suzuki book 4, then they can start playing Bach Suites, and other intermediate repertoir. The Bach Suites, however, are what most of my cello students are interested in learning. For piano students, I use the Bastien piano series by Neil Kjos. I want my students to be interested and engaged, and coach them through basics while also trying to find pieces or genres they want to play. Read More

The method book I use often depends on the level of the student and what we are specifically working on, especially when it comes to percussion. In lessons, I typically use a book and then supplement it with other exercises or music. A former teacher of mine taught me how to create exercises for whatever I was struggling with when I was in 8th grade. To this day that is still a prevalent method I use because it utilizes the student's creativity and allows them to take ownership of their learning. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Music, Keyboard

For beginning students I have a number of books, resources and methods that I utilize in order to keep the lesson engaging and enjoyable. For more advanced students, I typically have a lesson plan or a direction that I want to go after assessing strengths and weaknesses. For all of my students, I always ensure that we are learning and practicing music and concepts that they find enjoyable and is headed in a direction that they want to go, all the while still challenging them of course.
