More Information About Piano Lessons

For the sake of lessons and practice, a keyboard is often a much more viable option than buying a piano. Pianos are space consuming and expensive, as well as being very loud. Keyboards are perfect - especially for beginners - as they are more diverse in their functionality. Most keyboards come with a range of different sounds and effects (FX), such as chorus, reverb and synthesizer sounds. Another great feature common to many keyboards is a record function. This allows students to hear things back after they have played them, such as practicing scales etc... or to record ideas they are composing!
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons in your home - a smart and simple solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
Whether you have an interest in learning to play Rock, Jazz, Romantic or Classical piano, our piano teachers can help develop your playing through one-on-one lessons. Our teachers can also prepare you for exams, recitals and performances. For beginners, the basics will be taught. This will include learning the correct posture, hand position and fingering technique. It will include learning the notes and scales of the piano, learning basic chords and chord progressions, developing the musical ear and learning to apply these things to simple songs. Intermediate players will work on more exotic chords and playing such as diminished chords, 7th chords and applying these things to more challenging compositions. All students can develop their sight reading, ability to interpret sheet music and chord charts. Advanced students can study a particular composer o genre, can develop their repertoire, or work on their improvisational skills.
At Musika, we highly recommend that students looking to learn to play the piano do so with a clear goal in mind. Whether your goal is to learn to play your favourite tunes, reacquaint yourself with the piano, or just to play for fun, our experienced teachers can help you make those goals a reality. Learning, developing and improving technique, co-ordination and theory can actually be quicker during adulthood as the complex thought processes and theory are easier to understand. Adults can also help maintain their fine-motor skills, concentration and listening skills into later life.
Due to the attention span of very young children, we advise that students begin their piano lessons no younger than age 4 or 5. Piano lessons are a great way to introduce an instrument for the first time to a younger child, as learning piano will teach them basic musicianship skills like rhythm and harmony, and how to read sheet music and chords.
