More Information About Piano Lessons

For the sake of lessons and practice, a keyboard is often a much more viable option than buying a piano. Pianos are space consuming and expensive, as well as being very loud. Keyboards are perfect - especially for beginners - as they are more diverse in their functionality. Most keyboards come with a range of different sounds and effects (FX), such as chorus, reverb and synthesizer sounds. Another great feature common to many keyboards is a record function. This allows students to hear things back after they have played them, such as practicing scales etc... or to record ideas they are composing!
Musika offers customized one-on-one music lessons in your home - a smart and simple solution for busy parents and students. The convenience of in-home lessons allows you to save time without having to transport your child to class, allows your child to maximize their busy schedule, and provides a safe and familiar environment in which to learn.
There is no specific teaching method that all Musika teachers adhere to. All students will have lessons customized to their needs and goals as lessons progress. If there is a specific teaching style you are looking for, we will keep that in mind as we make your teacher match. Many teachers will have a few method books that they use for lessons, which will include exercises and techniques for practicing. All lessons will cover aspects of learning notes, proper technique, ear training, and how to read music.
Learning a new musical skill as an adult is a great way to keep your brain fresh! We have many adult students actively taking lessons with us, and this actually represents around 50% of our student base. Our instructors will offer an individually tailored lesson plan to the needs of an adult student. You will learn the technique of the instrument, specific repetoire suited to your skill level, and learn how to read music and sight read.
Piano is a great first instrument for children who have never studied music before. Our instructors specialize in teaching younger children, and will develop an individual lesson plan for your child. The youngest age that we recommend starting piano lessons is age 4. The instructor will be able to teach your child to read music, beginning music theory and musician skills, and how to develop a love for playing the instrument.
