Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I find the student is more likely to succeed when I adapt to their individual learning style. My Experience goes back to my early and young age. I started to take lessons with a private instructor called Manolo Parra, a wonderful flamenco and classical guitarist. After 3 years of taking classes with him I started to teach guitar and work as his teaching aid. At the same time I participated and helped in church choirs as member and choir director making arrangements for original compositions and others. When I begin lessons with a new student, I generally do not use a specific method book. Instead I put together a lesson from various online resources depending on what level the student is at. I never really used method books much in the course of my learning the instrument, although there are many various books that teach the same things in different ways for those at a beginner level. In my opinion, it is very important that the teacher understand each student's motivation for studying music. Hearing, and playing along with, recordings of lesson material will very much benefit intonation (tuning) and rhythm. For that reason, the Hal Leonard method books are very good; and the Suzuki books are excellent for repertoire, when the student has established a foundation. Although studying music literature is emphasized, lessons will usual consist of scales and arpeggios, technical studies, and repertoire. Read More
