I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for music. In 2017 I graduated with my BA in Music with an emphasis on Tuba from Texas State University. In 2018 I started my graduate work in Jazz Studies at Texas State University and will complete my degree in the Fall of 2019. I am a graduate of Texas Tech University. I began teaching privately in 1985 on the Lubbock ISD Music Tutorial Program. I went into the schools and taught students privately during class hours. I taught Tuba and Baritone Horn. In 1989 I began teaching with Lubbock Parks and Recreation in the community centers. This was more generalized. I taught Band Instruments, Voice, Guitar, Music Theory, Beginner Piano, Beginner Strings. I started teaching and touring as a guitarist at 16. I have been extremely fortunate to have toured around the world with several artists, in front of huge crowds, played on tons of records and taught hundreds of students. Over the many years I've been doing this, I have seen my students passion grow for their instrument which only pushes and motivates me to grow as a teacher. When I begin lessons with a new student, I generally do not use a specific method book. Instead I put together a lesson from various online resources depending on what level the student is at. I never really used method books much in the course of my learning the instrument, although there are many various books that teach the same things in different ways for those at a beginner level.
