I tend to use the Faber Piano Adventure series as the basis for starting lessons. This series is very widely known and it is really one of the best methods available for teachers to use. I like it because two people are the authors and composers, a husband a wife team, and together they create interesting and enjoyable compositions that students of all ages like to play.
