Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

The best plan is to always make room for fun as much as possible, because the harsh reality of practice can be a downer. I emphasize learning with the interest of the student in mind. It is best to be enthusiastic, but I make sure to see where the energy level of the student is to term the approach for the session. I am a musician at the heart of it all. Ever since I was a youngin' I've always had a melody or beat going in my head. I started playing guitar at age 11 and took lessons for about 6 months. For beginning musicians, I start by asking what music they enjoy and often have them start playing it within a day! Then we may proceed with auditory theory training, understanding rhythmic syncopations, and learning to apply harmonic modes. This is what I believe to be one of the most useful methods for cultivating a creative mindset and becoming a proficient player. My main focus of teaching is on the student, and on developing and expanding their existing musical interests. I develop a lesson plan and schedule that begins with the musical interests and passions of the student, their favorite bands, favorite songs and musical styles. From there I take each of their favorite pieces of music and demonstrate how the building blocks of music were used to create each, and how they can not only recreate their favorites, but start to create their own musical identity.
