My Experience goes back to my early and young age. I started to take lessons with a private instructor called Manolo Parra, a wonderful flamenco and classical guitarist. After 3 years of taking classes with him I started to teach guitar and work as his teaching aid. For violin I usually use Suzuki Method and will introduce etudes like Wohlfahrt or Kreutzer. I also have fun with Christmas music, pop and fiddle. If they are young children aged 4-6, I will use the "I Can Read Music" by Joanne Martin. For guitar I use a variety of different classical method and etude books. The better that one understands this connection, the more profound their contribution will be when playing with others. As a teacher, my goal is to assist each student in finding their own creative voice and guide them through the process of learning to express themselves through music. My fourteen years as a strings teacher has included both private lessons and public school settings. Many of his students have gone on to be involved in regional orchestras, Houston Youth Symphony, and university orchestras. From 2007 through 2010 orchestras under my care have earned consistent First Division ratings at UIL competitions, including “Sweepstakes” honors in 2008. I find that no one method works universally, but my experience has helped me gained a wealth of knowledge and different ways to deliver them to the student.
