I have no set style of teaching as every student is different. There are certain fundamentals that every musician should know and over the years I have discovered various methods that clear up the mysteries that befall the aspiring musician. Written music is not an exact science and for every rule there seems to be several exceptions. This can be quite confusing for the novice musician and through my extensive experience in the trade, I have found certain key components that dispel the fear that many students have of traditional classic training. Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Bass Guitar, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Conga, Latin Percussion

For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). Instruments: Guitar, Electric Guitar, Classical Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I do not use one specific method of teaching since I have never found a single method that meets the needs of every student. Every student learns differently and needs their own personal curriculum and method. Once I have identified the specific learning characteristics of a student, I plan their personal lessons accordingly and choose an appropriate book or written method to use with them. As someone who is completely self-taught, I am capable of identifying the issues that a student may be having and addressing them from the learner's perspective. Read More

I make sure that beginner students understand the instrument and start with the proper technique before they can develop bad habits. I try to pick a song or finger exercises for them each lesson as well as a few exercises where they can develop their reading skills. As a student becomes more comfortable with the instrument that is when we can get into more challenging pieces of music as well as different scales and exercises that will help them with their improvising as well as their overall understanding of music. I am a professional violinist and violin instructor. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the Universidad de Chile, an Artist Diploma Program, and a Master's degree in Music Performance, both from Duquesne University. I started my career in music when I was 13, and I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to playing and teaching music. In 2019 I moved from Chile to the United States, more specifically to Pittsburgh because I wanted to grow my knowledge in music and I started a graduate program at Duquesne University. Read More
