Once upon a time, one of my co-workers asked me to show her how to play some songs on the guitar. I can't remember exactly what those songs were, but I think it was Led Zeppelin, or something like that. I believe that effective instruction has a “rhythm” of its own that takes place as a result of the alternation of doing and thinking, and that good teaching of anything begins with what the students already know, or have the ability to do, and ends with what we want them to know, or be able to do.
