I will ask the student for their goals and what they wish to accomplish by taking lessons. Once we establish a goal we can work on attaining that goal. During lessons I find it useful for students to learn some basic music theory as it helps understanding patterns that can be applied to the clarinet. I use the standard teaching methods for flute such as the Taffanel and Gaubert "Daily exercises for flute." I am also very serious about using the Moyse technique and sound books such as "Tone delevopment through interpretation." I believe these method books are essential in playing the flute. Read More
