Music has been a lifelong source of joy and enrichment for me. As a child, I began lessons in piano, guitar and drums, and sang lead in a teenage rock band, before picking up the flute at age 16. My formal flute studies began with private classical training, but I quickly realized that I wanted to improvise and learn about the genres of jazz and world music. After majoring in music at a community college, I attended Berklee College of Music for two years and later transitioned to New England Conservatory of Music, with continuing education studies in jazz improvisation, theory, and classical flute.
